The selling agent recommended a builder for the refurbishment and on the day of completion we met and discussed our plans to totally gut the villa and extend to include the addition of extensive terracing, a swimming pool and a new lounge and kitchen in the original under build.

The work commenced. Some time later the builder was stopped by officials from the Town Hall as he did not have the necessary building permissions and permits in place. We were instructed to stop all works and submit a full project application to the Town Hall for approval.

Shoddy and incomplete works by the builder led us to seek out an architect who in turn employed a string of specialists in order to ascertain the way forward. However each specialist cost more money with no clear way forward or decisions being made.

In desperation and with some trepidation we took a chance and contacted CS Services having found them via the internet. We talked extensively through our issues and Steve, although busy at the time, conducted a thorough structural survey of the works, met with the builder and compiled a full report of his findings.

The report highlighted a lot of problems, which we had suspected. There were a number of major faults identified within the survey mainly to do with internal work completed by the builder. Some of our worst fears were confirmed as the work was nearly completed and we now understood that most of the work was substandard, would not comply with current regulations and would have to be redone.

From this point forward we engaged Steve as our on site project manager.

He immediately dismissed the Architect and others. He then organised and introduced a Spanish Architect and through Steve we engaged the services of another builder, one who Steve had experience of and could recommend. Steve steered us through the planning applications route and with his professional help we were granted a full building licence from the Town Hall.

Steve has the knowledge, connections and skills to get the job done and he also enjoys the challenge. And our project was certainly challenging at times. We were in danger of having bought a white elephant that would never be what we had envisaged when we purchased it. However, by employing CS Services we now have a beautiful villa with all the relevant legal documentation in place.

Christine and Steve of CS Services have helped us to turn everything around to a satisfactory completion. They have worked with us, keeping us informed every step of the way.

Since completion of this project, if we have needed any help, they have also not hesitated to do whatever they can to solve any problems we have encountered with our new Spanish home. We now consider Chris and Steve as our friends and they have certainly been added to our Christmas card list.
